In recent years, the interdisciplinary field of cosmology and particle physics has grown at an impressive pace. In fact, the two fields have become almost symbiotic, as new developments in one field influence the direction of the other. The flow of information goes in both directions: cosmology predicts the properties of elementary particles that are verified in experiments with accelerators, while elementary particle physics describes the physical properties of the early universe and answers long- standing cosmological enigmas. Each of the lecturers is active in this boundary field, some coming from an early particle orientation, others from an astronomical orientation. It is now important that students from both disciplines become familiar with the other. Unfortunately, traditional university programmes have not provided this interdisciplinary training. We aim to remedy with the Erice School.
