This school could represent the evolution of the International School of Breast Cancer: diagnosis and treatment that was established and directed by Prof. Umberto Veronesi.
The aim of this school will be to train the new generation of oncologists who will use personalised treatments after molecular characterisation of each neoplasm. The transition from conventional antiblastic chemotherapy, based on the histotype and clinical staging of organ malignancies, to targeted molecular therapy (including therapeutic anti-neoplastic vaccines) represents the new frontier of Oncology. The courses of this school will disseminate the most innovative knowledge and technologies on pathogenesis, molecular and immunological characterisation, diagnosis, and treatment of neoplasms. Particular emphasis will be placed on new therapeutic strategies and their evaluation using imaging (PET) and laboratory diagnostic techniques.
