Quantum logic, which originated in the thirties from the work of Birkhoff and von Newmann on the foundations of quantum mechanics, has undergone remarkable developments since 1960. Under the name ‘quantum logic’ physicists can see a deeper understanding of the structure of quantum theory, logicians can see a remarkable example of non-classical logics, mathematicians can see a fruitful intertwining between the theory of ordered structures and functional analysis. The school’s purpose is to stimulate discussion among scholars who have tackled quantum logic from different points of view and with different approaches.
