The experimental activity, methodologically based on appropriate assumptions, that this School proposes is the formulation of a studied synthesis of the territorial area of Sicily and a critical examination of the way the island is developing. Such studies should determine whether the current or proposed development constitutes an appropriate use of the territory with respect to the social and economic objectives of the individual districts. It is also possible to determine the inappropriate use of land and the local labour force. Based on the school’s findings, corrective models for these developments will be formulated and it is proposed to make contributions and planning schemes available to the administrations of the various municipal and regional territorial levels.
